Business-Tested, Research-Backed Strategies To Increase Performance

Disobey Average

Turn Bold Goals Into Focused Action

What could happen if you stopped keeping your biggest goals safe - and actually called your shot?

Ben Kjar knows what it means to pursue an outcome other people believe is impossible. Born with Crouzon Syndrome and told from an early age what he shouldn't - or couldn't - do, Ben built his life by refusing to let circumstances make those decisions for him. That refusal took him from a kid written off by expectations to an NCAA Division I All-American, a World Champion, a real estate entrepreneur, and the subject of the award-winning documentary Standout: The Ben Kjar Story.

Most organizations don't have a shortage of goals, they have a shortage of committed action. People hear the targets, feel the energy in the room, and leave with good intentions. Then Monday happens.

So this isn't simply a story about Ben.

It's a challenge to your people.

Through his memorable Call Your Shot approach, Ben shows audiences how extraordinary achievement begins: get clear about the goal that matters, find your Shot Callers, the people who'll hold you to it, put a clock on it, and start moving.

Audiences leave inspired to Disobey Average, think bigger about what's possible, and turn their next bold goal into committed action.

Audiences will leave ready to:
  • Call the shot: Define the meaningful goal they're willing to fully commit to.
  • Think bigger: Recognize where fear, expectations or "average thinking" have quietly reduced what's possible.
  • Find their Shot Callers: Build a circle of people who provide support, challenge and accountability.
  • Create urgency: Attach a meaningful timeline to their goal and move from intention to action.
  • Stay in the pursuit: Approach setbacks as part of achieving the goal rather than evidence that it's time to abandon it.

Ben Kjar Biography

About Ben Kjar

Ben Kjar has spent his life doing what others thought he couldn't — and helping people rethink what's possible for themselves.

Born with Crouzon Syndrome, a rare craniofacial condition, Ben grew up navigating surgeries, setbacks and other people's assumptions about his future. Rather than let those expectations define him, he chose to Disobey Average — a decision that made him Utah Valley University's first-ever NCAA Division I Wrestling All-American and, at age 40, a Greco-Roman World Champion. He's carried that same drive into business, building multi-million-dollar companies as a real estate entrepreneur. His journey is now captured in the award-winning documentary Standout: The Ben Kjar Story.

Today, Ben brings that same mindset to organizations worldwide — from sales kickoffs to leadership summits to international stages in front of audiences of 10,000 or more. Through powerful storytelling, humour and his memorable Call Your Shot approach, he challenges audiences to stop playing small: get clear about the goal that matters, find the Shot Callers who'll hold them to it, put a clock on it, and put it into motion.

Because extraordinary performance doesn't begin when you know exactly how you're going to get there.

It begins when you're willing to call your shot.
